Know what dental care may cost before you book

Dental prices are all over the map. The same crown can cost $900 in one zip code and $2,400 in another. The same insurance plan can cover 80% of one procedure and 0% of another. Most patients only find out what they will actually pay after they have already sat in the chair.

DentalCostBook fixes that. Pick your procedure, answer a few questions about your case and coverage, and see a realistic price range built from US pricing data — plus what insurance is likely to pay and what stays out of pocket.

How our calculators work

1

Pick your procedure

Start with the calculator that matches what your dentist proposed.

2

Answer a few questions

Only the fields that actually affect the price.

3

See an itemized range

Review low, typical, and high estimates for every line item.

4

Layer on your insurance

Apply your deductible, coverage percentage, and annual maximum.

Why our estimates are different

  • All-in, not just the headline. Estimates include the components a real quote would include.
  • Insurance math done properly. Deductible first, then coverage, then the annual maximum.
  • Real US pricing data. Ranges are built from published fee data and insurer schedules.
  • State-level pricing. Estimates adjust for where you are treated.
  • No sign-up or sales pitch. We do not collect contact information.
  • We show our work. Read our Methodology page.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate are these estimates?+

Accurate enough to plan around, not accurate enough to sign a check for. Your actual quote depends on your dentist, plan, location, and any complications found during an exam.

Are these calculators free?+

Yes. Every calculator is free to use, with no account required.

Do you sell my data?+

No. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or health information.

What is included in each estimate?+

Each calculator shows an itemized breakdown of the procedure, materials, imaging, anesthesia, follow-ups, and relevant add-ons.

How does dental insurance work for expensive procedures?+

Most PPO plans cover major procedures at a percentage after the deductible, up to an annual maximum. The calculators show how that cap affects your out-of-pocket cost.

Can I use an HSA or FSA to pay?+

Dental procedures generally qualify as medical expenses under IRS rules. Check your plan administrator for your specific situation.

Should I use this instead of getting a dentist quote?+

No. Use it before getting a quote. It is a budgeting tool; only a licensed dentist can provide a final price.
